Here’s a video of Luke and Hugh playing Weight Of The World. With Luke on the piano! Do I need to say more? Probably not.

And I miss you, and I love you, and that’s true.
Hello! I haven’t updated this blog in a very long time, but there is something I really need to show you. It’s the live version of Gap. The Kooks played it at a concert in Russia yesterday (I think). And it’s amazing. I really really love the song Gap and it’s even more beautiful when you know the background story. Paul and Luke both lost their father at a very young age and the song is about that. In my opinion there are only two things that could have been better 1) when Paul would have played the drums, because he is one of the writers of the song and 2) if I could have been there (of course! haha)
Here you can see it. Enjoy!

Both Hugh and Luke made a mixtape a few months ago and there are some really good tunes on the mixtapes, so I thought I’d share them with you.
Luke made a mixtape for Baeble Music in June. It’s a great mix which includes a mix of different styles. From hip-hop to funk and from Kanye West to The Clash.
This are the songs on the mixtape:
- It Is Not Meant To Be – Tame Impala
- Band On The Run – Paul McCartney and Wings
- Elephant Stone – The Stone Roses
- 212 – Azealia Banks
- Holes – Mercury Rev
- Power – Kanye West
- We Are The People – Empire Of The Sun
- The Magnificent Seven – The Clash
- Family Affair
- 2HB – Roxy Music
Here’s the article about the mixtape, in which Luke talks about every song. Here’s a spotify playlist Baeble Music made with the songs, but without Band On The Run because that song isn’t on spotify. Here’s the YouTube playlist I made which includes all the songs.
The Nerve Mixtape
This is the mixtape Hugh made. They asked Hugh to make a romantic seduction mixtape, so that’s what it is. It also features a Kooks’ song, about which he says “This wasn’t on any of our albums — a real shame. I think it’s one of my favorite songs Luke has written. He writes in a way that’s pure and honest. That’s quite difficult to do in our era of image.” It also includes Beast Of Burden by The Rolling Stones, which may be my favourite Stones’ song. I think this is the perfect playlist to listen to on a summer night.
- Big Sur – Mason Jennings
- March Of The Dawn – The Mummers
- She’s Always A Woman To Me – Billy Joel
- A Girl Like You – Edwyn Collins
- Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)? – Peter Sarstedt
- Give In – The Kooks
- Can’t Stand Losing You – The Police
- I Wanna Be Your Lover – Prince
- God Only Knows – The Beach Boys
- Beast Of Burden – The Rolling Stones
- I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) – Stevie Wonder
- Girl – The Beatles
- Elephant Gun – Beirut
- The Scientist – Coldplay
Here’s a link to the article about the mixtape in which Hugh talks about all the songs. Here’s a Spotify playlist Nerve made for the mixtape, there are three songs missing. Here is the YouTube playlist I made, which includes all the 14 songs.

Here are two interviews with The Kooks. One is with Hugh and Luke, the other only with Luke. These interviews aren’t really recent, but I still had to watch them and I thought I might as well post about it.
The first interview is from Fuse with Hugh and Luke. click here to go the interview
(Interview SPOILERS!) They talk about Junk Of The Heart, they discuss the word modernity and decide it is a word. They say, just as in a few other interviews, that The Kooks will bring out some new songs before the end of the year. So we can all be excited about that! They talk shortly about the video clip of How’d You Like That. They talk about Mark Foster and Foster The People and think that bands should play together more often. Luke talks about Piers Morgan and the twitter drama. Then they talk about hate and how they get a lot of hate. To which Luke decides that he also hated on Piers Morgan and that he was wrong about that. This was the tweet Luke sended in December.
Also can we please take a moment to appreciate the sunglasses Luke is wearing and the glasses Hugh has on his shirt. They are awesome! And then there’s still one thing about this interview. What is the golden man Luke has in his hand? It looks like some sort of prize. What have I missed?
The next interview is from Rolling Stone with Luke. click here to go to the interview
(Again SPOILER alert!) This interview doesn’t really talk about new subjects, it are all standard questions which get asked in every interview. Luke tells about the musicians who influenced the sound of the new album (Air, LCD sound system, Beck, Lykke Li). German fans should now pay attention! He says that Germany is a really important place for the band and that the love the German crowds. Also he talks about how drugs can influence songwriting.
And I wanted to show you this beautiful picture which I found in the article on the site of Rolling Stones.

I’m a 14 year old girl from The Netherlands who loves The Kooks a lot (and so do you probably when you look at this site and if you don’t: go and love them they’re amazing). I’ve made this wordpress blog partly for myself, so I can post all the interviews and shizzle to have them organized but hopefuly other people will also like this site!
I’ll try and keep this site updated with new interviews and news about The Kooks, I’ll also post old interviews and pictures and everything. You will see!
Just a few things before I start posting. I just started this blog, so the theme and everything isn’t perfect and English is not my native language so I’ll probably make a few mistakes while writing. Sorry!
